Fitting a harness 

The fitting of harness is not an exact science. This is due to many variables: 

• Variation in the horse/pony’s breed and build
• Variation of horse/pony’s condition (thin/fat/fit).
• Customers’ idea of a good fit; some like straps tight, others loose etc,
• Regional differences in harness style or fashion.
• Design differences in vehicles (eg: length of shafts or pole length, or position of swingletree) affect both the length of traces and reins.)
• Inaccuracies in measurements undertaken by the customer (ie: where the nose measurement is taken.)

Many of the above variables are beyond the suppliers’ control.
