| After attending my first outdoor event of the season, it was very evident to me, that there are a number of backsteppers who "haven't got a clue what they are doing" . As volunteers they need all the encouragement we can muster, but we also have a duty of care to these invaluable helpers, to teach them the job. Drivers have to be assessed before they attend an event, and I believe backsteppers should be assessed too. What are your thougjhts?

| WHHC had their first event of the season last weekend. They ran both a two day event and a one day, inside out event on the Sunday.at the delightful Redenham park venue. The quality of competition was very good, especially in the Open Horse class. There was only five competitors in this class, but it was true International standard, with both Di Hayes and Jeff Bannister ( both of whom have driven for team GB) driving new horses. Spectators watching the Open horse dressage could have been forgiven for thinking it was a top National event. The standard was that good. The winner of this class was Matt Weare with his young black mare. He should feel very happy that he won in such illustrious company.
